Abstract
The present study sought to investigate the conditions for combating electronic fraud in Brazil, focusing on states representing the five regions: Pará (North), Piauí (Northeast), Federal District (Central-West), São Paulo (Southeast), and Paraná (South). The research, with a qualitative and exploratory approach, was based on documentary and bibliographic sources. For the comparative analysis, aspects such as creation date, administrative structure, resources, investigation methodology, partnerships, agent training, and complaint-receiving structures were considered. The results reveal varying levels of institutional maturity among the analyzed states, reflected in the public policies adopted to address electronic fraud. The study concludes that there is a need to establish an integrated system to combat cybercrimes and to implement more effective public awareness campaigns through educational initiatives. Lastly, the importance of public policies focused on technological modernization and the continuous training of agents to combat this type of crime is emphasized.
