Abstract
An environment not designed for continuous human occupancy, which has limited means of entry and exit and where a hazardous atmosphere may occur can be defined as confined space. Due to the risks inherent to activities in these environments, it is common that accidents to occur, requiring, in many cases, a crime scene investigation, aiming to establish what happened, how it happened and who are responsible for the accident. However, the forensic experts who deal with this type of occurrence are generally not adequately trained, a fact that is aggravated by the lack, in the national literature, of a simplified advisory document to guide the forensic work in confined spaces. Thus, the present work aimed to produce a protocol for the forensic expert to act in places of work accident in confined spaces, focusing on the safety of the forensic team, on the technical evaluation of the scene and on the documentary evaluation complementary to the scene analysis.
