Abstract
The Winter School of Forensic Sciences (ESCIF) was developed in the State of Rio Grande do Sul as a scientific and educational exchange among students, professors, researchers, and experts in the field of Forensic Sciences (FS). ESCIF promoted a practical and innovative perspective for sharing professional experiences and scientific advances in FS. To date, three editions have been held: two in-person editions, in 2018 and 2019, and one online edition, in 2021. In all editions, ESCIF established international partnerships with Universities and Research Institutes in FS, in addition to receiving support and participation from various professionals, including members of the Federal Police (FP) and the General Institute of Forensics of Rio Grande do Sul (IGP/RS), aiming to promote cooperation both for education and for the dissemination and clarification of forensic work. The in-person editions gathered more than 200 participants, who were able to present scientific papers in poster or oral presentation formats and had the opportunity to participate in a bloodstain pattern analysis minicourse, as well as to reconstruct crime scene dynamics through simulations prepared according to the school’s theme. The online edition emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation in forensic science with new technologies emerging from Universities for applicability in forensic intelligence, enabling the participation of more international guests. Thus, the objective of this work is to disseminate the results of ESCIF, focusing on the preparation stages of each edition, aiming to encourage similar practices in Forensic Sciences in other regions of the country.
